When girls take care of their skin, they spend a lot of time fighting spots. There are many reasons for spots. The formation of spots is affected by personal constitution and family genetic constitution. Acquired factors include irregular life, high stress, endocrine disorders, etc. Among them, the biggest [culprit] of spots is ultraviolet rays! UVA, which can penetrate the dermis, can cause damage to collagen and elastin fibers that maintain skin elasticity, causing skin problems such as wrinkles and sagging.
Why is ultraviolet rays so powerful?
Ultraviolet rays can be divided into long-wave ultraviolet rays (UVA), medium-wave ultraviolet rays (UVB) and short-wave ultraviolet rays (UVC) according to wavelength. It is UVA and UVB that cause damage to our skin. UVA and UVB irradiation of the skin will damage the DNA of the skin, and the melanocytes in the basal layer of the epidermis will be stimulated to accelerate the production of melanin. UVA penetrates deep into the dermis and damages collagen fibers. This damage causes increased production of abnormal elastin, and abnormal amounts of elastin produce a metalloproteinase that often malfunctions and degrades collagen, causing the skin to rebuild incorrectly. The skin develops spots, aggravates stains, loses elasticity, and increases wrinkles.
There are three main stages in the formation process of sun spots:
- Latent period: Mainly manifested as spots hidden at the bottom of the skin, invisible to the naked eye
- Formation stage: The spots move up to the stratum corneum of the skin and are deposited on the surface of the skin when there is no time for metabolism.
- Mature stage: melanin accumulates on the surface of the skin and becomes clearly visible spots.
Sun protection is necessary
- The amount of sunscreen required to apply on the face is about the size of a thumb. If not enough is used, the expected protective effect may not be achieved.
- Sun protection is required both indoors and outdoors. Many people think that sun protection is only needed when going out. In fact, the glass of windows cannot completely block UVA. The blue light radiation emitted by the screens of electronic products will also promote the appearance of spots.
Are all spots that appear after exposure to ultraviolet rays sun spots?
This statement is one-sided. Some causes of spots are ultraviolet rays, because long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays will aggravate and quickly induce the appearance of spots.
Not only ultraviolet rays can cause spots, you should pay attention to these factors
Although ultraviolet rays are the primary culprit of spots, if you don’t pay attention to other aspects, spots and wrinkles will also appear.
Endocrine disorders
When there is excessive stress and irregular work and rest, the body’s hormones become erratic and endocrine disorders occur, which affects its own metabolic function, produces melanin, and causes the formation of spots.
Insufficient Qi and blood
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that there will be no spots without stasis. Spots may be caused by poor Qi and blood circulation and deficiency of Qi and blood.
Female hormones
The body secretes a large amount of progesterone, or taking drugs containing progesterone will stimulate the secretion of melanin and increase the production of melanin in the skin.
Bad cosmetics
Cosmetics of poor quality or impure raw materials, metal substances and excessive chemicals in them can also cause spots on the face.
